Welcome to The Arts Society Malmesbury
Chairman: Katharine Odlum
The Arts Society Malmesbury is a Member Society of The Arts Society and was previously known as Malmesbury Decorative and Fine Arts Society (MDFAS).
The aim of the Society is to provide an appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts. We enjoy lectures from first class speakers, experts in their field. They cover a wide range of topics in the fine and applied arts, including architecture, furniture, music, ceramics, paintings and many others. We select our speakers from a pool of over 300 which is managed nationally by The Arts Society and, between them, they cover over 4,000 topics. We always aim to give our members a balanced programme of lectures through the year.
In addition, several visits a year are arranged to historic houses, museums, galleries, gardens and other places of interest. There are Days of Special Interest to look into particular subjects in greater detail and an annual UK or overseas cultural trip is arranged. Members also receive a quarterly magazine from The Arts Society.
Run entirely by volunteers, our Society provides a great opportunity to meet people with similar interests, learn, have fun and make new and lasting friendships. Each Member Society within The Arts Society is a registered charity, and we aim to donate surplus money at the end of each year to local causes involved in arts-related projects.
